MARQUETTE, Mich. â€Ã‚“ The Northern Michigan womenâ€Ã‚™sbasketball team won their fourth straight game on Thursday night at the BerryEvents Center.  The Wildcats defeatedAshland by a score of 85-72.  With thewin NMU is now 5-4 overall and 2-1 in the GLIAC while Ashland is 7-5 and 2-1.

The â€Ã‚˜Cats controlled the tempo of the game and led by asmany as 15 points in the first half.  Atthe intermission the â€Ã‚˜Cats were shooting over 54 percent from the floor.  The Eagles were shooting at a 43 percentclip.  The second half was about thesame as the â€Ã‚˜Cats had their biggest lead of the game at 83-54 with 6:07 left inthe contest. 

Jessica Nohl led the way for NMU with 23 points.  She was 10-of-13 from the floor for thegame.  Tiffany Grubaugh had 19 markerson the night and four assists.  EmilySamuelson was the third â€Ã‚˜Cat to hit for double-digits as she had 13 points,four assists and four steals.

Beth Everman led the way for the Eagles with 27 points andseven boards.

The â€Ã‚˜Cats were 36-64 from the floor for the game (56percent) and converted eight of 19 free throws (42 percent).  NMU did out-rebound Ashland by a 36 to 34count.

The squad will be in action again on Saturday afternoon,Jan. 4 against Mercyhurst.
