
The Michigan Tech Huskies did not look like a 2-8-2 teamentering the game against the Northern Michigan University Wildcats on Friday eveningat the Berry Events Center. The 100thmeeting of the two U.P. schools went to the Huskies by a score of 3-2 in frontof 3,360 people. The Huskies improve to3-8-3 while the Wildcats drop to 9-6-1.
Mike Stutzel scored his 11th goal of the seasonat 12:57 of the opening period to give the â€Ã‚˜Cats the early 1-0 lead.
Brett Engelhardt gave the Huskies a 3-1 lead at 8:23 of thethird period. Stutzel would score hissecond goal of the night and 12th of the season on the power play at16:07 of the third period for the final margin. Chris Gobert and Peter Michelutti assisted.
Cam Ellsworth went the distance for Tech as he picked up histhird win of the season. He had 29 saves on the evening. Craig Kowalski was ingoal for the Wildcats as he had 15 saves on the night.
NMU will be in action again at the Badger Showdown, Dec.29-30, in Milwaukee, Wis. The â€Ã‚˜Catswill face Harvard in the first game on the 29th.
