Runners Dominate At NMU Invitational
MARQUETTE, Mich. - The same oldstory for the NMU cross country team at the Northern Michigan UniversityInvitational on Friday (Oct. 18) at the Marquette Fit Strip. By taking nine ofthe first 10 places the 'Cats easily won another meet for the 2002 season. NMUscored 15 points to Michigan Tech's 48 points.
Caitlin Compton won the event with a time of 18:32.0 as teammate Jordan Seethalerwas second in a time of 19:03. Rounding out the top five were Jennifer Lahr inthird place (19:16), Katherine Huemmer in fourth place (19:21) and Aubrey Smith in fifth place (19:28).
The bottom five of the top 10 looked like this in seventh place was Maria Stuber(19:35), eighth place was Melissa Oram (19:36), ninth was Michelle Paul (19:42) and in 10th place was Tracy Wills (19:44).
NMU which is ranked fourth in the latest NCAA II Cross Country Poll will belooking to add the GLIAC Cross Country Championship to their list of titles forthe season. The 'Cats will have to deal with Grand Valley as they are rankedthird in the same poll. The GLIAC Championship is this Saturday (Oct. 26) in Detroit, Mich.
