Volleyball Splits In The Mile High City

MARQUETTE, Mich

DENVER, Colo. - The Northern Michigan Universitywomen's volleyball team dropped their first match at the 2002 Colorado PremierChallenge to Northern Colorado in three straight games (22-30, 15-30, 20-30) beforecoming back to defeat Western State in a five game marathon (30-20, 26-30,28-30, 30-25, 19-17). The 'Cats are now 3-2 on the season. NMU will face Metro Collegeon Saturday afternoon in the silver match.
Against Northern Colorado Holly Greenamyre led the Wildcats with 10 kills. Shewas the lone player with double-digit kills. Kelli McCune dished out 21 assistswhile Meaghan Kimball had 17 digs for the match.
Against Western State, the Wildcats won the first game before dropping the nexttwo. McCune had 58 assists for the match. Five 'Cats managed double-digits inkills for the match as the squad was led by Beth Laveen with 20 kills. Aimee Dewittehad 14 while Jennie Little had 13 kills for the Wildcats. Kimball had 26 digsfor a match-high.
