MARQUETTE, Mich.- The Northern Michigan men's and women's crosscountry ski teams both turned in outstanding performances at the NMU Open overthe weekend.

On Saturday the men's team won the 10K Openwith 33 points as Michigan Tech was second with 21 points. The 'Cats took thefirst two spots as Chris Cook won the event with a time of 30:22.5 and Hjalmar Westie was second(31:43.1). Four other 'Cats placed in the top 10 as Matt Nielsen was fifth(32:17.1), Adriaan Ostrander was sixth (32:24.9),Bryan Cook was eighth (32:51.4), Dave Duede was ninth(32:54.7) and Joseph Graci was 10th (33:09.9).

Sunday was a bit of the same as Saturday as the menâ€Ã‚™s teamwon their respective events. The men's team won the 10K Male Open with 33points as Michigan Tech was second with 23 points. The 'Catshad seven of the top 10 finishers. Cook was second with a time of29:42.9 as teammate Westie was right behind him inthird place with a time of 30:41.9. The sixth through the 10th places were allWildcats as Nielsen was sixth (31:23.2), Ostrander was seventh (31:25.3), Duede was eighth (31:39.2), Jon Filardowas ninth (31:42.3) and Ben Cline rounded out the top 10 finishers in 10thplace (31:42.3).
The cross country skiers will be in action again on Dec. 14-15 at the ChristmasCup in Ironwood, Mich.
