MARQUETTE, Mich.- The Northern Michigan men's and women's crosscountry ski teams both turned in outstanding performances at the NMU Open overthe weekend.

On the women's side on Saturday in the 5K Female Open, NMU took the team titlewith 33 points as UW-Green Baywas second with 23 points. Shannon Dikkema led the 'Cats with a third placefinish in a time of 17:42.4. NMU dominated the sixth through the 10th spots asthey took all five places. Lindsay Williams was sixth to lead the skiers with atime of 17:45.3, Hilary Patzer was seventh (17:50.0), in eighth was Rachel Daw(17:50.8), Tami Kochen was ninth (17:55.4) and in the 10th spot was Maria Stuber(18:13.4).

Sunday was a bit of the same as Saturday as the womenâ€Ã‚™s team won theirrespective events. On the women's side on Sunday the 'Cats tallied 33 points,nine more than second place Michigan Tech in the 5K Female Open. Daw won theevent with a time of 17:39.7. Williams was third (17:55.1) followed by Patzerin fourth place (17:59.0) and Stuber in fifth place (18:02.5). Rounding out thetop 10 finishers for the 'Cats were Kochen in seventh place (18:20.1),Katherine Huemmer in ninth place (18:30.7) and Dikkema in 10th place (18:39.6).

The cross country skiers will be in action again on Dec. 14-15 at the ChristmasCup in Ironwood, Mich.
