Alpine Skiers Sign Five
MARQUETTE, Mich. - Kristian Saile,the Alpine Ski Coach at Northern Michigan University, has announced that Ali Dehlin,Jazz Centauro, Kathryn Hosking, Danielle DenBleyker and Jessie Dux have sign aNational Letter of Intent to attend NMU and ski for the Wildcats.
Dehlin from Marquette, Mich. qualified for the USSA Junior Olympics the pastseven years and was a member of the Whistler Team. She was a four-time memberof the all-region, all-U.P. and all-state teams. During her high school career,Dehlin was a four-time member of the Michigan Class A State Championship Team.She captured the Michigan High School Slalom title in 2001. Dehlin was awardedwith the Christian Rumney Memorial Award in 2002 and also is a member of theMarquette Mountain Racing Team Hall of Fame.
Centauro from Beaconsfield, Quebec was ranked 15th in the slalom and 29th inthe giant slalom in her age division in Canada for the 2000-01 season. She is amember of the Mt. Tremblant Elite Team and finished in the top 20 in the Nor AmCup race.
Hosking from Iron Mountain, Mich. won the slalom and giant slalom at the 2002Michigan High School State Championships for Class B, C, D. She was athree-time all-state selection as she was a first team pick twice. Hosking wasa four-time all-U.P. selection and a four-time letterwinner. For the 2000-01season, Hosking was a Michigan High School Coach's Scholar-Athlete recipientand a National High School Athletic Institutes All-American Scholar-Athlete.She placed second at the Mid-American Series this past season (2002). Hoskingalso participated in track and basketball in high school.
DenBleyker from Littleton, Colo. was all-state her freshman year in high schoolin the slalom and giant slalom. She has placed second in the giant slalom atthe Junior Olympics. During the 2000-01 season, DenBleyker qualified for theU.S. Nationals in the Downhill and Super G events. She played softball throughhigh school as her team went to the state tournament three times.
Dux from Marquette, Mich. won the 2001 Michigan High School State Championshipin the giant slalom and was second in the slalom. She is a two-time WisconsinHigh School State Champion. Dux was a member of the Junior Olympic Team Centralin 2002. She has qualified for the Junior Olympics eight times in her career.
