MIDLAND, Mich. - The NMU Wildcats dropped afour-game match to Northwood on Saturday. The 'Cats lost the first game (24-30)before taking the second game (30-28) to tie up the match. The Timberwolvescame back to take the next two games and the match (28-30, 28-30).
Northwood is ranked 20th in the latest AVCA Division II poll. With the loss the'Cats are now 7-10 overall and 2-5 in the GLIAC while Northwood is 17-3 and5-2.
Beth Laveen had 15 kills for the 'Cats to lead the squad. Jennie Little added14 kills. Defensively for the 'Cats, Meaghan Kimball and Aimee Dewitte both had13 digs. Kelli McCune had 43 assists and two service aces.
Northwood was led by Sladjana Vasiljevic with her 20 kills on the afternoon.Amy Gruszynski passed for a match-high 55 assists.
The 'Cats now come home for two matches as they will host Wayne State (Oct. 12)and Hillsdale (Oct. 13) in GLIAC action.
