ALLENDALE, Mich. - The Northern Michigan University women's volleyball team split at the GLVC/GLIAC Crossover at Grand Valley State on Friday. In their first match of the day, the Wildcats defeated Bellarminein four games (23-30, 30-26, 30-20, 30-23) and dropped their second match ofthe day to SIU-Edwardsville in a five-game marathon (30-28, 21-30, 24-30,30-15, 7-15). The 'Cats are now 4-5 on the season. They will face Northern Kentucky on Saturday afternoon for their final match of the tournament.
Against Bellarmine the Wildcats were led by Jennie Little who had 19 killswhile teammate Beth Laveen had 17 kills in the match. Anne Kinsella came offthe bench to pass for 21 assists as Kelli McCune the starting setter had 28assists. Meaghan Kimball had 16 digs for the match.
The second match of the day, the 'Cats took the first game and then dropped thenext two against SIUE. NMU won the fourth game to send it to the deciding fifthgame for the match. Newcomer, Holly Greenamyre registered a team-high 14 killsfor the match. McCune had 42 assists and 16 digs for the 'Cats. Britni Wilk hadfour service aces for the match to lead the squad.
