The Northern Michigan women’s club hockey team is competing at the American Collegiate Hockey Association Women's D2 National Championships after remaining undefeated in conference play. The Wildcats won their opening round game on Wednesday, 5-1 over California University of Pennsylvania.

The Wildcats advanced to nationals at the Central Collegiate Women’s Hockey Association Division II playoffs. They toppled Notre Dame Aquinas and Michigan State by a combined margin of 20-4. In the championship game, they downed the Fighting Irish 5-1.

Northern Michigan has scored 186 goals and allowed 41 goals, making for a +145 goal differential. Additionally, six players rank in the top 20 in point leaders within the ACHA.

The Wildcats participate in the CCWHA, which is comprised of Michigan State, University of Michigan-Flint, Notre Dame, Aquinas, Loyola, Central Michigan and Lake Superior State.

The team features five Upper Peninsula natives: Katie Pryor, Carlie Kangas, Allison Carlson, Sierra Rusinek, Addie Gustafson and Ciara Kangas. Three additional players are from the Lower Peninsula: Macy Schultz, Kelsey Weyland and Alexis Ade.

Northern Michigan is led by head coach Sean Parker and assistant coaches Steve Robare and Mike Martin.
