ALLENDALE, Mich. – The Northern Michigan University soccer team was defeated on Sunday at No. 11-ranked Grand Valley State. The Lakers defeated the Wildcats 8-0 in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference matchup from GVSU Soccer Field. The ‘Cats are now 3-11 overall and 2-8 in conference play.

The Lakers (12-1-2 and 8-1-1 GLIAC) scored two goals in the first half, one by Ashley Botts and the other by Cassandra Wiltshire. Charlie Socia had the third goal of the game in the opening minutes of the second half. Kayla Anderson added another ten minutes later.

In the 63rd minute, Botts added another goal. Casey McMillian would go on to score the remaining three goals of the game.

NMU’s freshman goalkeeper Shelby Conard finished the game nine saves.

Northern returns home for two games to close out the season. NMU will host Walsh on Friday (Oct. 26) and Malone on Sunday (Oct. 28) for Senior Day.
