Volleyball Wins Sixth Straight

PAINESVILLE, Ohio – The Northern Michigan University volleyball team picked up its sixth win in a row with a 3-0 sweep over Lake Erie College on Friday (Sept. 21). With the win, the Wildcats are 3-0 in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference and 10-2 overall.

NMU won the first and third sets 25-8 and the second set 25-13. The ‘Cats hit a .380 attack percentage and had 12 service aces.

Senior Jasmine Calhoun, junior Lina Lopes and freshman Lisa Studnicka led a balanced NMU offense attack with eight kills each. Juniors Sarah Hamilton and Kalli Herron each added six kills.

Freshman Alex Berger led the defense with 14 digs. Senior Kali Zimmerman and Studnicka added six digs.

Junior Kellisha Harley had 29 assists, two digs and one ace. Lopes had four service aces and four digs.

Lake Erie (2-6, 0-3 GLIAC) was led by Molly Richardson with four kills. Jamie Hoppe added three kills and six digs. The Storm had 16 attack errors

The ‘Cats end their 13-match road trip on Saturday (Sept. 22) as they take on Ashland at 2 p.m. The Eagles defeated Michigan Tech 3-0 on Friday.
