MANKATO, Minn. – Sophomore Jamie Roberts, of the No. 13-ranked Northern Michigan indoor track and field team, is an All-American in the pole vault after her sixth place finish at the 2012 NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championship from Minnesota State University, Mankato on Friday (Mar. 9) afternoon.

“Jamie had a real good competition today,” NMU coach Tom Barnes said. “We’re real happy and she’s got a great career ahead of her, only being a sophomore.”

Roberts vaulted 12 feet, 5.5 inches to earn her second All-American honor. She finished third at last year’s NCAA Outdoor Championship for her first.

Roberts scored three points for NMU. Kristen Hixson of Grand Valley won the competition, clearing 13 feet, 1.5 inches.

Senior Bailey Franklin and redshirt freshman Sherice Hewett compete for the Wildcats on Saturday (Mar. 10). Franklin jumps in the high jump and Hewett in the triple jump.
