BAY CITY, Mich. – Senior guard Chelsea Lyons has been named to the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference All-GLIAC First Team and GLIAC All-Defensive Team.
The Coon Rapids, Minn., native led the Wildcats in scoring, rebounding, assists and steals this season. Lyons ranked second in the GLIAC in scoring with an average of 16.9 points per game and averaged 6.0 rebounds per game. The senior also led the team with an average of 2.9 assists per game and 2.1 steals per game
Lyons had seven 20-point games and two 30-point games this season, including a career-high 34 points in a 71-62 win over Northwood on Feb. 23. The senior led NMU in scoring in 18 games this season and concluded her career with 790 total points and 302 rebounds.
NMU finished the 2011-12 season with a 13-14 overall record and finished in third place in the GLIAC north division at 9-10. The ‘Cats concluded their season on Feb. 29 with a 76-56 quarterfinal loss to regular season conference champion Ashland.
