Skiers Honored by Central Collegiate Ski Association
MARQUETTE, Mich. – The Central Collegiate Ski Association recently announced the student-athletes honored for its First and Second Teams at a banquet held on the campus of Northern Michigan University.
Six members of NMU Nordic program, three from both the men’s and women’s teams, were honored for their accomplishments during the 2011-12 season.
On the women’s side, sophomore Molly Burger was named to the CCSA Second Team, while juniors Rosie Frankowski and Monica Markvardsen were named to the First Team. Markvardsen was named top athlete, with 196 points earned over the course of the season.
On the men’s side, junior Chris Bowler was named a member of the Second Team, while freshman Kjell-Christian Markset and sophomore Erik Soderman were honored as members of the CCSA First Team. Markset was also named top athlete, garnering 165 points on the season.
Honorees were selected to one of two teams based on the total amount of points accumulated at CCSA events throughout the season. The top five point recipients were selected to the First Team, while those six through 10 were honored as Second Team members.
