MARQUETTE, Mich. –The Northern Michigan men’s basketball team is at home this week at the Berry Events Center to open its Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference home schedule.

The Wildcats have been on the road for nearly a month, last playing at the Berry on Nov. 15 in a loss to Lewis University.

The ‘Cats are coming off of a 77-54 loss to Michigan Tech in its GLIAC opener.  A streaky shooting performance by the Huskies guided them to a win, as MTU shot 55.1 from the floor.  NMU was led by freshman forward Haki Stampley with 18 points and three rebounds.  Senior guard DeAndre Taylor also netted 17 points and eight rebounds.

The Dragons enter the week losers of their last three games.  Tiffin is 4-4 overall and 0-2 in the GLIAC, recently dropping contests to Ferris State and Grand Valley State.

Tiffin is led by senior guard Karl Finley.  The senior leads the Dragons in scoring, averaging 18.8 points per game and 3.1 rebounds.

NMU is 4-1 all-time against Tiffin and 2-0 at home, with the series dating back to the 2008-09 season. The ‘Cats dropped last season’s meeting 76-73 in Tiffin, Ohio.

Tipoff is set for 7:30 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 8.
