GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Northern Michigan swimming and diving team finished third at the Calvin Invite over the weekend. The Wildcats finished with 466 points behind Grand Valley State (980) and the University of Indianapolis (661). Hillsdale College finished fourth, 42 points behind the ‘Cats.
“It was great beating Hillsdale,” NMU coach Heidi Voigt said. “It was a great day.”
Junior Gabby Alzaga was the top finisher on Sunday in second in the 200 backstroke. Freshman Emily Bourguignon finished fourth in the event and sixth in the 100 freestyle.
Junior Olga Budiansky finished third in the 200 breaststroke. Freshman Emily Brennan was third in the 200 individual medley.
Freshmen Madisen Sechena (5th) and Taylor Grimm (7th) and junior Lauren Cockels (8th) all competed in the finals of the 100 butterfly.
The 'Cats are off until the first week of January.
