BAY CITY, Mich.– For the second year in a row, four members of the Northern Michigan volleyball team were honored by the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference for their outstanding play this season.
Senior left side hitter Emma Wolfe and junior setter Abby Lovell were selected to the All-GLIAC First Team, junior middle hitter Sami Vierk was selected to the All-GLIAC Second Team and sophomore left side hitter Lina Lopes was selected as All-GLIAC Honorable Mention.
Emma Wolfe appeared in all 29 matches and 104 sets as the ‘Cats leading attacker in a career year. She had a team best 364 kills and an attack percentage of .227. Wolfe also had a team best 380.5 points, averaging 3.659 points per set. She had 51 digs, 24 total blocks, eight assists and one service ace.
Abby Lovell appeared in 28 matches and 100 sets as the team setter. She led the team with 1,005 assists and had an attack percentage of .267. Lovell had 120 digs, 30 total blocks and 27 service aces. She also had 118.5 total points, averaging 1.185 points per set.
Sami Vierk had a career season in her third year in a NMU uniform. She appeared in 28 matches and 98 sets as the team’s second leading attacker. Vierk ranked second on the team with 270 kills with an attack percentage of .260. She also led the team with 60 total blocks and had 40 digs and eight service aces. Vierk ranked second on the team with 316.5 points, averaging 3.23 points per set.
Lina Lopes ranked third on the team with 240 kills, with an attack percentage of .157. She appeared in 27 matches and 97 sets as a sophomore, ranking second on the team with 220 digs and leading the ‘Cats with 38 service aces. Lopes also had 23 total blocks, 22 assists and 292 total points, for an average of 3.01 points per set.
