Feuerherd Named Student-Athlete Scholar of the Month

MARQUETTE, Mich. – Senior Becca Feuerherd of the Northern Michigan University volleyball team was named the inaugural October 2011 Student-Athlete Scholar of the Month by the Athletic Council. Feuerher was nominated by Dr. Marguerite Moore Ph.D, AT, ATC.

“Becca will go far in life at whatever she pursues,” said Moore. “She is an excellent advocate for NMU and the perfect demonstration of a model student-athlete.”

The 5-7 defensive specialist, from Madison, Wis., will graduate in May with a degree in athletic training. She has played in all 28 matches this season and is currently ranked second on the team with 35 service aces and third on the team with 129 digs. She also has 13 assists.

Along with volleyball, Feuerherd has the highest grade-point average out of all the students in the athletic training program with a 3.92. She is a teaching assistant and is assisting on a research project entitled The Effects of Migraine Headache on Balance, Proprioception and Reaction Time. She also completed an internship with the United States Olympic Education Center over the summer.
