MIDLAND, Mich. – The Northern Michigan soccer team finished its six-game road trip with a 4-1 loss to the Northwood Timberwolves on Sunday (Sept. 25) afternoon. NMU is now 5-2-2 overall and 3-2-1 in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference. The Wildcats finished 3-2-1 on the road trip.

Northwood (4-3, 4-3 GLIAC) scored three unanswered goals after NMU took an early lead.

Chelsea Lyons scored her seventh goal of the season 4:23 into the game to give NMU the early lead. The assist went to Amelia Johnson as she picked up her third helper.

Northwood evened the score at 26:31 as Tonya Sitney buried a shot from six yards out.

Amanda Watson scored two goals in the second half and Melissa Seymour added the fourth score for the Timberwolves.

NMU goalkeeper Jessica Baker had four saves between the pipes. Rebecca Lipinski had two saves for Northwood.

The ‘Cats return to Marquette, hosting Lake Erie on Friday (Sept. 30) and Ashland on Sunday (Oct. 2), during Homecoming weekend.
