Wildcat Runners Finish Fourth at St. Olaf

NORTHFIELD, Minn. – The Northern Michigan cross country team finished fourth of 16 teams at the St. Olaf Invitational. Three Wildcats finished in the top 17.

“Our team had a great race,” NMU head coach Jenny Ryan said. “Many girls had their personal best times on a 6k course and a fourth-place finish was good.”

St. Olaf won the meet with a score of 46. Carleton College was second with 70, Minnesota-Duluth was third with 87 and NMU was fourth with 99. 325 athletes raced.

Freshman Larissa Halonen led NMU in 11th place with a time of 23:16. Nora Kiilunen was 15th for the ‘Cats in 23:23. Rita Woitas was five second back in 17th.

Katie Granquist (26th) and Alicia Romano (30th) rounded out the scoring for the ‘Cats.

Chelsea Farquhar (35th), Olivia Juntila (36th) and Olivia Howard (42nd) also finished in the top 50.

The ‘Cats compete at the Roy Griak Invitational next weekend in St. Paul, Minnesota.
