MARQUETTE, Mich. – Zach Anderson (Sault Ste. Marie, Mich./Sault Area)of the Northern Michigan University football team has been named the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference “Defensive Player of the Week” after his performance over the weekend at Findlay.
The 6-3 junior defensive lineman anchored the NMU defense with 13 total tackles in the Wildcats’ 30-23 double overtime win at Findlay. He tallied four solo tackles and nine assisted tackles in the contest. Anderson also had a sack for a 9-yard loss late in the second quarter, making Findlay attempt a 37-yard field goal that was missed.
Anderson leads NMU with three sacks on the year. He also leads the team with 17 total tackles (seven solo and 10 assisted).
The 2-0 Wildcats host Northwood from the Superior Dome on Saturday (Sept. 17).
