MARQUETTE, Mich. – The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference member schools are teaming up with the Women's Basketball Coaches Association's "Pink Zone" for the 3rd annual "Pink Wave" events in an effort to raise breast cancer awareness and funds to help "Wipe Out Breast Cancer."

During Thursday (Feb. 17) night’s men’s and women’s basketball games against Lake Erie College, NMU will help support the cause by wearing pink shoelaces and pink warm-up shirts.

Women’s Head Coach Troy Mattson is a big supporter of the event and looks forward to Thursday’s events.

“Everyone is going to be affected by this in their lifetime in some way or another,” said Mattson. “It’s a very, very important situation and a very special event for everyone involved.”

Tip off for the men’s game is at 5:30 p.m. with the women to start at 7:30 p.m. inside the Berry Events Center.
