MARQUETTE, Mich. -For the second time this season Northern Michigan University junior forward Tyler Gron was named the Central Collegiate Hockey Association (CCHA) Offensive Player of the week of Feb. 7-13. He was recognized as player of the week for his performance against Michigan State over the weekend (Feb. 11-12).
The Spruce Grove, Alberta, native led the Wildcats in their sweep (first road sweep of the season) over the Spartans in East Lansing and recorded his first career hat trick on Saturday. Gron’s three goals came consecutively with neither a Spartan nor another ‘Cat scoring between his goals. Gron added an assist for a four point night and five point total for the weekend. On Friday, Gron scored the first goal of the contest for his 13th goal of the season. Gron recorded a point on half of the wildcat’s goals (10) on the weekend.
Gron leads the Wildcats offensively on the year with 16 goals and 15 assists for 31 points.
