GLIAC Swimming Championships Get Rolling

JENISON, Mich. – The Northern Michigan University swimming and diving team started competition at the 2011 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Championships at Jenison Aquatic Center.

NMU competed in two events on Wednesday (Feb. 9). Lindsay Stedman finished 20th in the 1,000 yard freestyle (11:01.22) and Stephanie Rogaczewski was 24th (11:15.09)

The 200 yard medley relay team of Gaby Alzaga, Olga Budiansky, Lauren Cockels and Kelsey Sippple finished .3 seconds behind Hillsdale for seventh place.

“The 200 relay was so fun to watch! It was so close and exciting for our team,” NMU head coach Heidi Voigt said. “It was a good first day and all the girls are excited for the rest of the weekend.”

Competition continues on Thursday (Feb. 10) at 10:30 a.m. and continues through Saturday (Feb. 12).
