Track Team Finishes Third

STEVENS POINT, Wis. – The Northern Michigan University track and field team placed third at the Pointer Invitational with a team score of 92.6. The Wildcats broke two more school records and had 10 performances finishing in the top five.

Angeli was first in the 200m dash (25.51) and broke her own school record in the 55m dash with a time of 7.22, good for second. Samara White (5th), Brittnee Balbierz (6th) and Katy Lafayette (7th) also placed in the event.

Bailey Franklin finished second in the 55 hurdles with a school record time of 8.41 seconds. Melissa Christenson finished third in the event.

The Wildcats 4x400m relay team finished fourth (4:07.02). The team consisted of Brooke Granquist, Sydney Schultz, Sara Turschak and Colby West.

Franklin cleared 5’ 5.75”, finishing tied for first in the high jump. Christenson finished seventh.

Jaime Roberts cleared six more inches than her nearest competitor, winning the pole vault with a jump of 11’ 7.75”. Turschak (7th) also placed in the event.

Christenson placed in her third event of the day as she was seventh in the long jump with a distance of 16’ 8.5”.

Franklin jumped 36’ 3” in the triple jump for second place. Delaney Lovett was fifth in the event for the ‘Cats.

The ‘Cats head to Duluth, Minn. next weekend to compete in the Lake Superior Challenge.
