FINDLAY, Ohio – Northern Michigan outscored No. 4 Findlay in the second half but was defeated, 65-86, after committing 22 turnovers and 23 fouls.

NMU (7-14, 2-12 GLIAC) scored 35 second half points to the Oilers 33 but were down by 23 at half. Junior center Jared Benson scored 16 of his team-high 18 points in the second half.

Findlay shot 29 free throws to the ‘Cats six and converted NMU’s turnovers into 23 points while only turning it over five times.

Matthew Craggs scored 13 points for NMU while Mylan Murphy had 11 and eight rebounds. DeAndre Taylor and Martin Gross combined for 14 points.

The Green and Gold shot 47 percent and outrebounded the Oilers (42-35) but gave up 26 points from the free throw line.

The Oilers had five players in double figured led by Aaron Robinson’s game-high of 20. Jack Smith had 18 points, Nathan Hyde scored 17 and Kyla Caiola had 12.

Findlay shot 37 percent and drained 10 3-pointers.

The ‘Cats travel to Lake Superior State on Thursday (Feb. 10).
