MARQUETTE, Mich. – Northern Michigan University women’s soccer head coach, Matt Granstrand, announces five new additions to the NMU women’s soccer team.  The following student athletes have all signed the National Letter of Intent to play for the Wildcats next season: Haley Boroughf, Shelby Conard, Ashley Katers, Tevun Sellers, and Zoe Taylor.

“We are very happy with this exciting group of incoming players,” Granstrand said.  We have added quality and depth that should help us as we strive to extend our season beyond the accolades of what we accomplished this past season. “

Haley Boroughf (5-9) is a forward from Marquette, Mich. and plays for Dan LeBert at Marquette High School.  Haley’s club team is the Marquette Wave coached by Mike Mlsna.  Haley is a two-year Captain and currently has 36 goals and 28 assists with one season remaining.  Haley also plays Marquette Junior Hockey and is a three-time leading goal-scorer, two-time captain, and three-time state championship participant.

Shelby Conard (5-9) is a goalkeeper from Port Huron, Mich. and plays for Ryan Kopydlowski at Port Huron High School.  Shelby’s club team, the Michigan Gators, is coached by Bruce McFadden. The Michigan Gators were league champions the last two seasons. In high school, Shelby was First Team All-Conference the last three years as well as overall team MVP the last two years.

Ashley Katers (5-8) is a midfield /forward from West DePere, Wis. and plays for Jerry Draves at West DePere High School.  Ashley played club soccer from 2005-09 with the Neenah Nutmeg (2005-09 WI State League Champions) and currently plays for FC Green Bay which is coached by Quinn Ross. For the last five years Ashley has been a member of the Wisconsin State Olympic Development team. Ashley scored 30 goals in prep soccer last season alone and currently has 49 goals and 21 assists with one season remaining. Ashley was also team MVP and First Team All-Area in 2010.

Tevun Sellers (5-5) is a forward from Arvada, Colo. and plays for Kamee Morwood at Ralston Valley High School. Tevun is the sister of current Wildcat Brekelle Sellers. Tevun’s club team is the Nike Rush coached by Andrew Kummer. The Nike Rush has won the Colorado State Championship the last three years. In High School Tevun, was named MVP on offense as well as Second Team All-Conference.

Zoe Taylor (5-7) is a defender from Marquette, Mich. and plays for Dan LeBert at Marquette Senior High School.  Zoe’s club team is the Marquette Wave coached by Mike Mlsna. Zoe has been a starting defender since ninth grade and has played a big role in the team’s success. Zoe also has played Volleyball the last four years and received the All-Region Michigan Interscholastic Volleyball Coaches award in 2009 and 2010.
