MARQUETTE, Mich. – The Northern Michigan University women’s basketball team will play two Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference games at home this weekend. NMU (7-10, 2-8 GLIAC) will first take on Hillsdale College (12-4, 6-4 GLIAC) Thursday night at 7:30 p.m. in the Berry Events Center. Saturday the ‘Cats will be in action at 3 p.m. when they take on Northwood University (8-8, 4-6 GLIAC) who is coming off a big win over Tiffin University (56-54).

 After ending their three-game losing streak two weeks ago NMU has found itself in another three-game losing streak. The ‘Cats are coming off a tough road schedule from last week losing to both Grand Valley State and Ferris State.

Junior Chelsea Lyons is leading NMU in scoring through 17 games with 11.1 points per games. Lyons is second on the team in steals (26) and is shooting 75 percent (52-69) from the foul line. Staci Beckel is second on the team averaging 10.9 points and senior Steffani Stoeger is climbing NMU’s scoring charts averaging 10.2 points per game and is now 24th on the career scoring list.

Hillsdale comes to town on a two-game winning streak. The Chargers are scoring 72.6 points per game, which is the second highest in the GLIAC. Junior Chelsea Harrison is third in the conference in points averaging 17.4. Hillsdale has two others scoring in double figures. Senior Laura Barczak is averaging 14 while sophomore Lea Jones is averaging 10.3.

Saturday afternoon’s game against Northwood will feature the leading scorer in the conference, senior Pam Wilson (17.8). She is second in the league in rebounding at 9.7 a game. Wilson has scored in double figures in all but one game this season and has eight double-doubles on the season. Junior Savannah Stedman is second on the team averaging 12.1 points per game.
