MARQUETTE – The United States Olympic Education Center has selected weightlifter Allie Henry (River Falls, Wis.) as the December Athlete of the Month.
“I’m very happy for Allie that her accomplishments and work ethic have been acknowledged by being selected as the Athlete of the Month for the USOEC,” said coach Andy Tysz.
“Her personality, character and work ethic are great examples of the kind of athlete we want in the USOEC weightlifting program.”
Henry placed fourth, at 69 kilograms, at the 2010 American Open, Dec. 10-12, in Cincinnati, Ohio. Also in 2010, Henry also earned a bronze medal at the World University Championships and a silver medal at the Collegiate Nationals.
Henry is a senior at Northern Michigan University pursuing a degree in health and fitness management and was recently named to the USOEC 2010 Fall All-Academic team.
