MARQUETTE, Mich. – Northern Michigan University forward Dana Stephens was named to the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA)/Performance Subaru Women’s Soccer Great Lakes Regional Third Team.
Stephens, a senior from Wyandotte, Mich., was a starting forward on a team that finished 9-6-5 and qualified for its first NCAA Tournament. The Wildcats finished third in the GLIAC with a record of 8-4-3. NMU was the only team to defeat the NCAA Champions Grand Valley State.
“I’m not surprise that Dana was chosen. She’s been a very good player for us in the last four years. She is a huge reason for the success we had this year.” commented NMU head coach Matt Granstrand.
Stephens started all 19 of the games she played in and led the team in points with 24, scoring 11 goals with two assists. Three of her goals were game winners.
The NSCAA/Performance Subaru Great Lakes Regional Team was selected by a vote by all of the coaches in the Great Lakes Region.
