MARQUETTE, Mich. – The Northern Michigan women’s basketball team will look to get back on the winning track when it hosts the University of Wisconsin-Parkside on Saturday. Game time is set for 5:30 p.m. from the Berry Events Center.

NMU had a three game winning streak before No. 19 Michigan Tech came to town on Saturday (Dec. 4) and defeated the ‘Cats 65-77. NMU is now 4-3 on the season and 0-1 in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference.

The Wildcats have three players averaging in double figures. Staci Beckel (Austin, Minn./UW-GB) leads the way with 13.6 points per game, followed by Chelsea Lyons (Coon Rapids, Minn./UW-GB) and Steffani Stoeger (Hortonville, Wis/Hortonville). Four other ‘Cats average better than five points per game. Erin Powers (Marquette, Mich) is sixth in the GLIAC in rebounds per game at 8.1.

Parkside is 6-1 overall and 2-0 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference. The Rangers played Robert Morris on Wednesday (Dec. 8), winning 70-58.

The Rangers are led in scoring by Brittany Beyer at 14.4 points per game while Jadee Rooney is averaging 12.4.

NMU is 18-2 all time against Parkside. Last season the ‘Cats traveled to Kenosha, Wis. and lost to the Rangers, 68-75. The Rangers have received votes in the WBCA Top 25 Poll.
