Cross Country At Final Competition For The Season

MARQUETTE, Mich. – The Northern Michigan University cross country team will wrap-up the 2010 season at the NCAA Division II Midwest Regional which will be held at E.P. “Tom” Sawyer Park in Louisville, Ky.  Running begins at noon Saturday (Nov. 20).  Contestants will run a 6,000-meter course.

The Wildcats will be looking to improve on last year’s effort as the team placed 13th.  Olivia Juntila was the top placing ‘Cat a year ago as she was 36th.

Bellarmine University is the host for the event.  Results from the regional can be found at:

In its last outing the ‘Cats were 10th at the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Cross Country Championships with 256 points.  Grand Valley State won the title with 18 points.  The top placing ‘Cat at the GLIAC meet was Kristen Schulz who was 39th

Other runners from NMU to watch include: Nora Kiilunen, Mandy Dye, Christina Turman, Marie Helen Soderman and Rita Woitas.
