BAY CITY, Mich. – The Northern Michigan University soccer team had four players selected to the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) All-Conference teams. Sophomore goal keeper Jessica Baker (Holt, Mich.) is a first team All-GLIAC selection while sophomore forward Amelia Johnson (St. Michael, Minn.), junior forward Dana Stephens (Wyandotte, Mich.) and junior midfielder Kari Buckel (Traverse City, Mich.) are second team All-GLIAC selections.
Jessica Baker started 16 games for the Wildcats. She was second in the conference with a .868 save percentage and fourth in saves (105). She also had three shutouts on the season and finished the regular season with a 7-4-5 record.
Amelia Johnson started all 19 games for the Wildcats this season and leads the team in game winning goals (3). The 5-3 sophomore is also second on the team in goals (9) and shots (55).
Dana Stephens started in the 18 games she played this season. The 5-4 senior leads the team in points with 11 goals and two assists. Stephens was a second team pick in 2009.
Kari Buckel appeared and started in 18 games and was second in points with five goals and six assists. The 5-4 senior was a second team selection in 2008.
NMU finished the regular season 8-4-5 and third in the GLIAC with a record of 8-4-3. The Wildcats beat Ferris State 4-3 to advance to the GLIAC Tournament Semifinal before losing to Tiffin. NMU still has a chance at making the NCAA Tournament with selections being announced Monday (Nov. 8) at 7 p.m.
