ALLENDALE, Mich. – The No. 3 seed Northern Michigan University soccer team’s hopes of winning the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Tournament are over after the Wildcats lost to the No. 2 seed Tiffin University Dragons, 2-0. The game was played on the campus of Grand Valley State University.
Tiffin took the lead at 13:41 when Ashley Davis caught a pass from Shelly Rogers and shot it past NMU goal keeper Dana Bush from 12 yards out. Lauren Bowyer scored an unassisted breakaway goal at 74:23 to make it 2-0.
NMU is 9-5-5 on the season and the Dragons are 12-4-3. Tiffin outshot the Wildcats 15-4 and had nine corner kicks to the ‘Cats one.
Dana Bush recorded four saves before Jessica Baker came in to relieve her with 12:00 to go. Baker recorded two saves of her own.
NMU still has a chance at making the NCAA Tournament. Selections for the tournament will be made on Monday (Nov. 8) at 7 p.m. A webcast selection show will be available on NCAA.com.
Tiffin moves on to the championship game on Sunday (Nov. 7) and takes on the winner of the second semifinal game between No. 1 seed Grand Valley and No. 4 Findlay.
