MARQUETTE, Mich. – The Northern Michigan University cross country team is headed to Hillsdale, Mich. this weekend for the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Men’s and Women’s Cross Country Championships. NMU will be looking to improve on last year’s seventh place finish. Hosting the event is Hillsdale College. Running will begin at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 6.
The team has not competed since taking second place at the U.P. Collegiate Championships which NMU hosted Oct. 22. Christina Truman led the Wildcats at the event with a second place overall finish with a time of 23:16.5. NMU had three other runners in the top 10 as Rita Woitas was sixth (24:02.4), Mandy Dye ninth (24:16.8) and Marie Helen Soderman 10th (24:19.9).
Other runners to watch from NMU include Kristen Schulz, Jordyn Ross and Olivia Juntila. At last year’s GLIAC championships, Juntila was 35th, Schulz 36th and Woitas 52nd.
