MARQUETTE, Mich. – The Northern Michigan University Intercollegiate Athletics and Recreational Sports Department is honoring all military personnel with Military Appreciation Night, Friday, Nov. 12. That night the NMU hockey team will take on the Falcons of Bowling Green State University at 7:35 p.m. All military personnel who show a military identification card can purchase a ticket at the group rate of $6 to the game. Veterans Day is Thursday, Nov. 11.
Captain Brian Wong, the youngest son of NMU President Les Wong and First Lady Phyllis, will take part in a ceremonial puck drop. Joining him at center ice will be his brothers Isaac and Nathan Wong.
B. Wong recently returned from his second tour of duty in Iraq, where he was assigned to the 1st Squadron, 14th Cavalry Regiment, 3-2 Stryker Brigade Combat Team at Joint-Base Lewis McChord. He is a communications officer and is the commander of Horseman Troop, 1st Squadron 14th Cavalry. B. Wong and his wife, Stephanie, have a two-year-old son, Kieran.
