MARQUETTE, Mich. –There was a great turnout for the Men’s Basketball Tipoff Luncheon in the Peter White Lounge on Tuesday. NMU President Les Wong and the Athletic Department welcomed Milwaukee Bucks General Manager John Hammond to Marquette.

It was the first time Hammond had ever been to the Upper Michigan though he’s spent many years downstate. Hammond talked basketball and his expectations for his former player NMU Coach Doug Lewis.

Lewis also talked about the journey that lead him to Marquette and his expectations for NMU basketball for years to come.

The men’s basketball players that were on hand introduced themselves.

The community is excited for the upcoming basketball season. Practice starts on Friday and the Wildcats first tipoff is Nov. 12 at the Palm Beach Atlantic Tournament against West Palm Beach. The first home game is Nov. 20 against Spring Arbor.
