MARQUETTE, Mich. – The Northern Michigan University cross country team has not competed since Sept. 25 when the Wildcats finished in eighth place at the Roy Griak Invitational.  This week the team travels to Kenosha, Wis. to run at the UW-Parkside Invite.  Running will begin at 10:45 a.m. Saturday (Oct. 16).  The University of Wisconsin-Parkside is hosting the competition.

Rita Woitas led the ‘Cats at Roy Griak with a 39th place finish as she covered the course in a time of 24:00.1.  Right behind her was teammate Olivia Juntila (24:00.6).  Kristen Schulz led the ‘Cats the first two meets of the season as she was fourth at the U.P. Collegiate Opener (19:57.5) and third at the Lake Superior Challenge (19:25.6).

After this meet the ‘Cats host the U.P. Championships (Oct. 22) at the NMU Golf Course.    The ‘Cats head to the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Cross Country Championships towards the end of the month (Oct. 22) which will be held at Hillsdale College.
