Soccer Loses Second Straight

MARQUETTE, Mich. – The No. 19 NMU soccer team (6-2-4, 6-2-1 GLIAC) went down in defeat for the second time this weekend. The Tiffin Dragons (6-5-1, 5-4-1 GLIAC) held the Wildcats scoreless for the second game in a row and won 2-0 on another warm and sunny day from the Superior Dome Outdoor Fields.

The ‘Cats were able to get eight shots on Tiffin goalkeeper Denis Resende but couldn’t bury a goal. Lauren Bowyer scored the first goal of the game at the 17:43 mark from the top of the box to take the one goal lead.

Lauren Turkington scored on a penalty kick just before halftime to give the Dragons the 2-0 lead at half.

The ‘Cats came out with a lot of energy in the second half and generated a few scoring chances. Dana Stephens handled the ball down the right side for a shot that was saved. Amelia Johnson got the rebound but her shot was also saved.

Soccer hits the road the next two weekends starting with games at Grand Valley and Ferris State.
