MARQUETTE, Mich. -The NBA’s 2010 Executive of the Year will be on hand to talk basketball at the Wildcat Men’s Tipoff Luncheon Tuesday, October 12 at 11:45 AM in Peter White Lounge in the University Center.
All basketball fans are invited to welcome Milwaukee Bucks General Manager John Hammond to Marquette. Hammond was the first Bucks executive to win the award after Milwaukee finished the regular season with 12 more wins than last season and earned its first playoff berth since 2006.
John Hammond was an assistant coach at Southwest Missouri State when NMU Head Coach Doug Lewis played there in the late 80s. Hammond helped lead Lewis and his teammates as a No. 13 seed to the NCAA tournament and an upset win over No. 4 Clemson. The Bears made two NCAA appearances while Hammond and Lewis were there together.
NMU Coach Doug Lewis and his coaching staff will also talk about the goals of the upcoming season and his future expectations for the men’s basketball program.
Tickets for the luncheon are $9 and can be purchased at the door. Don’t miss this great opportunity to meet a high profile NBA executive and support Wildcat basketball as they prepare for the upcoming season.
