ST. PAUL, Minn. – The Northern Michigan University cross country team competed Saturday at the Roy Griak Invitational which was held at the University of Minnesota. NMU finished in eighth place in the Women’s Maroon – Division II category. The Wildcats tallied 266 points as Minnesota-Duluth won the category with 70 points.
Rita Woitas led the squad with a 39th place showing. She covered the course in a time of 24:00.1. Olivia Juntila was right on her feet as she was the next runner to cross the finish line (24:00.6). About 19 seconds back was Christina Turman in 60th (24:19.0). Nora Kiilunen was the next runner in the race (24:19.9). Mandy Dye finished in 66th with a time of 24:22.2. Two other runners competed, but did not score for the ‘Cats. Kristen Schulz was 74th (24:28.1) and Marie Helen Soderman was 110th (25:02.0).
NMU will not run again until Oct. 16 when they will compete at the Midwest Collegiate Championships.
