MARQUETTE, Mich. – The #19 ranked Northern Michigan University women’s volleyball team showed it’s strength tonight by beating up on Northwood in three straight sets (25-23, 25-14, 28-26). The crowd was rowdy in Vandament Arena Tuesday night as the Wildcats undefeated season continued. NMU is now 11-0 and 7-0 in GLIAC play. Northwood drops to 3-7 and 1-5 in the GLIAC.
Sami Vierk Led the Wildcats with 11 kills and Emma Wolfe had 9. NMU head coach Dominic Yoder knows how good these players are but he also knows how important it is to have a good setter. Abby Lovell had 25 assists and 7 digs. Yoder thought she was the focal point of the offense.
"Abby really distributed the ball well and created one on ones for our attackers. She is the reason our attack percentages are so high." Yoder said.
Northwood was lead by Sladjana Mitrovic with 15 kills and Jolyn Timms added 9. Lauren Chapman had 24 assists.
"Northwood’s pass and serve was really good. They are a young and scrappy team. They have a no-die attitude." Yoder added.
Up next for the Wildcats are the Lake Superior State Lakers. Game time for Saturday’s match is set for 1:30 pm from Vandament Arena.
