MARQUETTE, Mich. – Sunday’s 1-0 overtime soccer win over Grand Valley State was a milestone for head coach Matt Granstrand. It was his 100th collegiate career win. Now in his seventh year he is currently 69-38-10 with the Wildcats. His other stops have included North Dakota where he was the head coach for two seasons (2002-03) as he recorded a 24-9-3 mark. Granstrand coached Lakeland College for one season (1998) where he was 7-13-0.
Currently Granstrand’s collegiate mark stands at 100-60-13. “To reach 100 career wins is a great accomplishment,” said Granstrand. “If I would not have the players then this would have never been possible.”
The NMU soccer team is currently in first place in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) North Division with a 3-0-1 record as the ‘Cats are 3-0-3 overall so far for the 2010 season.
NMU host Saginaw Valley State (Sept. 24 at 2 p.m.) and Northwood (Sept. 26 at 12 p.m.) this week.
