Malcolm Fields Named Assistant Men's Basketball Coach
MARQUETTE, Mich. – Doug Lewis has named Malcolm Fields as an assistant coach on the men's basketball staff at Northern Michigan University. He was a volunteer assistant under Lewis at Central State University during the 2009-10 season. Fields played at Central State University where he was a two-time honorable mention NAIA Division I All-American selection.
Fields was among the leaders in NAIA Division I during the 2002-03 season in free throw percentage (84.9) and scoring (19.3). He received the Central State University Athletics President Award for being active in the community (2003). He was named the Central State Male Athlete of the Year in 2003.
After his collegiate playing career ended he played professionally in the International Basketball League and in the National Basketball Developmental League.
Fields graduated from Central State in 2010 with a bachelor of science degree in sociology.
