BAY CITY, Mich. – The Northern Michigan University volleyball team has been selected third in the 2010 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) North Division as selected by the conference coaches in preseason balloting.  NMU picked up 24 points in the voting with one first-place vote. 

Ferris State and Grand Valley State each picked up 32 points to share the top spot in the voting. The Lakers picked up three first-place votes with the Bulldogs being named first on two ballots.  Hillsdale was picked as the team to beat in the GLIAC South.  The Chargers received 36 points and six of the seven first-place votes.   Findlay picked up the other first-place vote. 

Saginaw Valley State was picked fourth in the North Division with 23 points.  Michigan Tech was next with 17 points, as the Huskies were followed by Northwood (13) and Lake Superior State (6) to round out the division.   The Warriors of Wayne State were selected second in the GLIAC South with 27 points.  Ashland was third in the balloting with 26 points with the Oilers from Findlay next (24).  Ohio Dominican (13), Tiffin (12) and Lake Erie (9) claim the fifth through seventh spots.

NMU will play the annual Green and Gold Match Friday, Aug. 27 at 7 p.m.   The following week NMU will host the Wildcat Open Sept. 2-4.
