MARQUETTE, Mich. – The Northern Michigan University football team begins preparation for the 2010 season tomorrow (August 11).  All student-athletes will report for the beginning of training camp at the Superior Dome.  The first day will consist of issuing equipment, physicals and dorm room assignments.  All student-athletes will handle NCAA paperwork and there will be team and position meetings. 

The first practice will be Thursday (August 12) with a walk thru at 9:15 a.m.  The Wildcats will come back that afternoon (2:30 p.m.) with helmets.   Monday, August 16 will be the first day the Wildcats are in full pads. 

NMU opens the season at MSU-Mankato, Thursday night Sept. 2 (7 p.m.).  The home opener for the ‘Cats will be the next week against Findlay (Sept. 11) at 2 p.m. 

NMU is coming off a 6-4 campaign in 2009 which was the ‘Cats first winning season since 2002.  Last year the ‘Cats were ranked for the first time ever in the American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) Top 25.
