Jack Rustman Makes AFL Debut
MARQUETTE, Mich. - Former Northern Michigan University football player Jack Rustman made his season debut last Saturday (May 29) with the Milwaukee Iron of the Arena Football League (AFL). The Iron defeated the Dallas Vigilantes 63-38. Milwaukee is the top ranked team in the AFL Coaches Poll.
Rustman was a second team selection to the All-Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) football team as a senior and anchored an offensive line which helped the Wildcats average 350.7 yards of total offense per game during the 2009 season (198.3 rushing and 152.4 passing).
The Iron currently tied for first with the Chicago Rush and Spokane Shock in the National Conference with a record of 6-2. The Iron will pay a visit to the Windy City, June 17, where former Wildcat player and defensive line coach Rob Boss is playing fullback for the Rush.
Through eight games, Boss currently has 110 all-purpose yards. He also has 18 carries for 51 yards and five touchdowns. Boss has hauled in five catches for 59 yards and two touchdowns. Defensively, Boss, has recorded four solo tackles. In his latest outing against Cleveland on Saturday he had four carries for 19 yards and a score on a four-yard run. The Rush defeated the Gladiators 52-49.
