MARQUETTE, Mich. – Northern Michigan University announces the 2010-11 hockey schedule. The Wildcats play 18 of its games at the Berry Events Center. Highlights of the home schedule includes games against Michigan Tech   (Oct. 8 and Dec. 17), Ohio State (Oct. 29-30), Notre Dame (Jan. 7-8), Lake Superior (Feb. 4-5) and Michigan (Feb. 25-26). All of the non-conference games will be against teams from the Western Collegiate Hockey Association (WCHA), Michigan Tech, Minnesota-Duluth, Bemidji State and Denver.
Head Coach Walt Kyle is looking forward to the 2010-11 season. “I like our schedule. I think we have a lot of strength in-conference and in our home schedule,” said Kyle. “Our home fans will see Michigan, Notre Dame, Ohio State and Michigan Tech in our building. I think our non-conference schedule is outstanding.   All eight games are against WCHA opponents.   Plus we will play Denver in a series out there.    That gives us a lot of strength and we are excited about the upcoming year.”
NMU will open the season with a home exhibition game against Nipissing University from Canada (Oct. 3). The following week the Wildcats host Michigan Tech and Minnesota-Duluth for the annual installment of the Superior Cup (Oct. 8-9). NMU faces the Huskies again a couple of days later in Houghton (Oct. 12). After a weekend off the ‘Cats open up Central Collegiate Hockey Association (CCHA) play, first on the road at Miami (Oct. 22-23) and then at home against the Buckeyes of Ohio State (Oct. 29-30).
The first weekend of November the ‘Cats travel to Sault Ste. Marie, Mich. for the first of two games against the Lakers of Lake Superior (Nov. 5-6). Bowling Green comes calling to the Berry Events Center the following week (Nov. 12-13). The next two weekends the ‘Cats will be on the road with a conference tilt in Fairbanks, Alaska against the Nanooks (Nov. 19-20) before a non-conference set at Bemidji State (Nov. 26-27).
December finds the ‘Cats hosting the Broncos of Western Michigan (Dec. 3-4) at the Berry Events Center. NMU goes on the road next to hit the ice against the Fighting Irish of Notre Dame Saturday and Sunday (Dec. 11-12). Before the Christmas break the ‘Cats face the Huskies of Michigan Tech for the third time, this time in Marquette (Dec. 17).
The ‘Cats begin 2011 on the road against Denver (Dec. 31-Jan. 1). Notre Dame and the ‘Cats hook-up for two more games at the Berry Events Center (Jan. 7-8). After a weekend off NMU hosts the Bulldogs of Ferris State (Jan. 21-22) and then go on the road for a series against Western Michigan (Jan. 28-29). 
During the final month of the regular season the ‘Cats have two series at home and two on the road. NMU will play the back end of the of its yearly four-game series with Lake Superior (Feb. 4-5) at the Berry Events Center. NMU is then on the road for the next two weekends. First up is a two-game tilt against the Spartans of Michigan (Feb.11-12) and then  it is off to Bowling Green, Ohio to face the Falcons for two more games (Feb. 18-19). The final weekend of the 2010-11 regular season and the ‘Cats host the Michigan Wolverines (Feb. 25-26).
