MARQUETTE, Mich. – The Northern Michigan University football and volleyball teams wrap-up the spring portion of their schedules this week. Track and field and golf continue with its spring schedules.
Football will conclude spring drills with the spring game Saturday (April 17) at 1 p.m. The game is free and open to the public. This is a good chance to preview the Wildcats for the upcoming season. NMU will open the 2010 campaign on the road against MSU-Mankato Sept. 2. The home opener is set for Sept. 11 against Findlay.
The NMU volleyball squad currently 5-5 on its spring swing plays at the Minnesota-Duluth Tournament Saturday (April 17). NMU faces Concordia, St. Cloud State, St. Scholastica, a Minnesota-Duluth alumni team and the Bulldogs of Minnesota-Duluth. At the St. Cloud State Tournament last week the squad split as they defeated the host school and an alumni team of St. Cloud State. NMU then lost to Bemidji State and Southwest Minnesota State.
Track and field competes at the Northwood multi-events and invitational this week. The multi-events will be Thursday and Friday (April 15-16) with the invitational Saturday (April 17). Last week the ‘Cats competed at the Bulldog Invitational which was held at Ferris State University. Many fine performances were turned in as the team gears up for the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Outdoor Track and Field Championships in May.
The NMU men’s golf team hits the links at the Tiffin Invite Saturday-Sunday (April 17-18). This is team’s third event on the schedule this spring.
